The British Council takes another step in its commitment to diversity

British Council The British organization joins the group of Protecting Partner companies of Fundación Diversidad.

The British Council is deepening its commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion by becoming a Protecting Partner of Fundación Diversidad. The British organization will have access to the Foundation’s training and advisory services and will cooperate with it in launching and promoting national and international initiatives that foster inclusion in the workplace.

In this regard, Andy Mackay, director of the British Council in Spain, states: "Our commitment to diversity is a fundamental part of everything we do and is reflected both in our internal policies and in our work with partners and clients. For example, in the arts, we have been collaborating for years with initiatives such as the Social Inclusion Conference, held with the Ministry of Culture; the "Una Mirada Diferente" festival, organized by the Centro Dramático Nacional; and the "Capacitats" program, which enables artists with disabilities to train as professional choreographers. It is also a priority for us to work on improving how we teach English and administer exams for people with special needs, whether at our teaching centers or elsewhere. The work we do as an organization is absolutely linked to diversity and cannot be understood without it."

An ongoing commitment:

In July 2015, the British Council in Spain was recognized in the first edition of the "Recognition for Corporate Diversity Management," organized by Fundación Diversidad, the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality, and the European Commission to recognize the good practices developed in this area by the selected institutions.

A year earlier, in February 2014, the organization joined 14 other institutions in signing the Diversity Charter, a commitment to the fundamental principles of equality and respect for everyone's right to inclusion, regardless of their characteristics.
