According to official data from the State Public Employment Service (SEPE), in the Community of Madrid last December, the Special Employment Center Alares Social signed 18% of all contracts for people with disabilities, and 3% nationwide.
In 2014, the Special Employment Center multiplied its hiring by five compared with the previous year, a figure that is expected to continue rising throughout 2015. At the same time, with regard to its workforce, Alares Social quadrupled it.
Overall, this is good news for one of the groups facing the greatest difficulties accessing employment. A change in companies’ corporate culture, together with recent disability legislation that unifies all existing regulations in this area and the increasingly high qualifications of people with disabilities, is creating an increasingly positive outlook in terms of hiring.
