The United Nations is developing a guide with a set of principles to help companies promote gender equality in the workplace.
The guide, which will be published this year, will encourage socially responsible practices in the workplace and, in the words of Inés Alberdi, director of the United Nations Development Fund for Women, “the code will increase equality between men and women and boost companies’ competitiveness.”
The head of UNIFEM also emphasizes that countries need women to create strong economies and therefore calls for the private sector’s cooperation in achieving this goal.
