Parliament accessible to everyone
People with hearing impairments will be able to access the address that the President of the Government will give today at 4:45 p.m. in Congress. Three interpreters will translate José Luis Zapatero’s statements into Spanish Sign Language.
Both the public television broadcast and the channel that Congress has online at www.congreso.es will include an on-screen window for the interpreter, allowing the entire address to be translated simultaneously into Spanish Sign Language. The broadcast will also feature subtitles on Spanish Television.
At Alares, we support initiatives like this, which enable people with disabilities to participate in political life—an aspect that undoubtedly has a significant impact on their quality of life.
