The prestigious study “The Bottom Line” is presented for the first time at the Alares® International Congress
The study conducted among Fortune 500 companies highlights the strong correlation between corporate financial performance and gender diversity in company management.
“The Bottom Line” reveals that companies with greater female representation in management positions achieve, on average, significantly better financial results than those with less representation. According to Ilene H. Lang, President of Catalyst, “This study once again demonstrates the strong correlation between companies’ financial performance and gender diversity. Properly managed diversity leads to greater independence, innovation, good governance, and maximized results.”
The study was conducted among companies included in the prestigious Fortune 500 ranking and used three financial performance indicators as its benchmarks: return on equity (ROE), return on sales (ROS), and return on investment (ROI). Catalyst compared the results of companies with the highest representation of women in their senior management teams with those of companies having the lowest female representation in management positions. The comparison showed that the ROE of companies with the highest proportion of women on their management teams, as well as their ROS and ROI, is 53%, 42%, and 66% higher, respectively, than that of companies with a low proportion of female executives.
Eleanor Tabi Haller-Jorden, General Manager of Catalyst Europe AG, will present the “The Bottom Line” study during a plenary session at the Alares® International Congress on Wednesday, February 20. In the words of Javier Benavente, President of the Alares® Foundation, “It is an honor for us that the Alares® International Congress has been chosen as the setting for the first presentation in Europe of this interesting study on the economic impact of gender diversity in business.”
The Alares® International Congress is aimed at senior business executives, public institution leaders, and professionals involved in the congress’s subject areas. At its inaugural event, this annual forum will feature, over the course of two days, the participation of prominent figures and institutions from more than 20 countries in over 40 presentations on the new issues that have emerged strongly at the beginning of the 21st century and affect strategic positioning and the competitiveness of companies and countries, such as CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), dependency, diversity, immigration, equality, and work-life balance—topics that are all highly relevant today.
In addition to Eleanor Tabi Haller-Jorden, the Congress will feature speakers such as Jack Trout, one of the pioneers of strategic positioning; Mark Hollingworth, author of the book “Growing People, Growing Companies”; and Bruno Arbounet, Director of the French National Agency for Personal Services (French Ministry).
