Forum on Justice and Disability

Yesterday, this forum was inaugurated in Zaragoza. It began its work in 2003 with the aim of coordinating state institutions and legal bodies so that they promote activities that raise society’s awareness of the rights of people with disabilities. During the sessions, organized by the General Council of the Judiciary, participants will include, among other organizations, the Spanish Committee of Representatives of People with Disabilities (CERMI) and the Spanish Confederation of Associations of Relatives and People with Mental Illness (FEAFES), which will address the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and its incorporation into domestic law. This document, based on integrating disability on the basis of equality for all people, has been ratified by 140 countries, including Spain.
