On February 4 and 5, the European Diversity Charters Platform Meeting was held in Brussels. All the organizations responsible for promoting and disseminating the Diversity Charter in their respective countries met to share experiences and initiatives related to diversity management.
During both days, the projects developed by each
Diversity Charter during 2015 and the activities currently in progress were presented. Through the working groups on which the sessions were based, the objective of exchanging good practices and valuable initiatives among the participating countries was achieved.
By sharing the actions carried out individually, the common learning sought was achieved.
When discussing the questions and topics of greatest interest to each country, in addition to addressing
Generational Diversity management, proposed by Fundación para la Diversidad, the participants discussed LGBTI diversity, based on the 2015 Eurobarometer on Discrimination, “Social acceptance and perceptions of discrimination on grounds of sexual orientation and gender identity”; discrimination among young people, with reference to the report “Overview of discrimination among young people in the European Union”; and good practices in diversity management implemented by small and medium-sized enterprises, according to the report “Diversity in small and medium-sized enterprises: Good practices and strategies for moving forward”.
Finally,
Cultural Diversity, which is highly topical given the situation faced by immigrants, with particular emphasis on refugees arriving in different European countries, was addressed in detail. In this regard, tools for managing the integration of refugees into the labor market were shared, as an essential factor in their integration. Highlights include the
latest publication by the German Diversity Charter, “Refugees entering the employment market,” presented as a practical guide for companies; and the European Website on Integration, which aims to serve as a working platform for integration and includes a specific section for all organizations and companies wishing to contribute through their own experience.
