3rd European Conference on Personal Services

Today marks the end of the 3rd European Conference on Personal Services, an event organized by the Spanish Association of Personal Services (AESP) and promoted by the Belgian Presidency of the European Union. During two intense days, Europe’s leading representatives in the fields of social welfare, economics, and sustainability gathered in Madrid. According to data from the AESP, household services and dependency care are the two sectors with the greatest growth prospects. In this regard, the 3rd European Conference on Personal Services highlighted the positive results of policies already implemented in some countries, in order to encourage the rest of the European countries to become more involved in these issues. Since the AESP was created in 2009, this organization has defended the need to reach an agreement with the Government to address the issues surrounding Personal Services, since a significant portion of these services is provided through the informal economy. To this end, the AESP advocates equalizing the prices of services provided through the informal economy with those of services in the regulated economy, as well as introducing a very low VAT rate for the provision of these services.
