Today, January 30, schools and educational centers around the world celebrate School Day of Nonviolence and Peace (DENIP). Coiniding with the anniversary of the assassination of India’s national and spiritual leader, Mahatma Gandhi, on January 30, 1948, DENIP is an initiative launched by Llorenç Vidal in 1964. The aim of this celebration is to promote education in and for harmony, tolerance, solidarity, respect for human rights, nonviolence, and peace.
The Spanish teacher launched it when similar initiatives did not yet exist in educational centers. School Day of Nonviolence and Peace is the most important educational experience for peace of our time, as well as a dynamic hub for promoting it nationally and internationally.
At Alares, we support initiatives like this and are committed to equality among people, to a more supportive, tolerant, and fair world, and to ensuring that children can enjoy a free and peaceful school.
