Yesterday, the headquarters of the European Commission Representation hosted a meeting of more than twenty companies to sign the Diversity Charter, a protocol promoted among Spanish companies by the Foundation for Diversity. Through this document, the signatory companies commit to including people of different genders, races, ages, cultures, and more in the workplace and society.
On this occasion, companies such as Bankinter, Grupo Inforpress, and Mantequería Arias were among the latest to join this protocol of principles, which works for and promotes diversity. At the meeting, some of the companies that joined the Charter in this latest signing ceremony, such as Bankinter and Philips Ibérica SAU, presented the diversity policies they implement.
With one year of existence, the Foundation for Diversity has established itself among the leading nonprofit organizations working toward social integration and diversity. The signing ceremonies for the Diversity Charter demonstrate this: 245 institutions have already joined the declaration, sharing its principles of non-discrimination. In this regard, Javier Benavente, Vice President of the Foundation for Diversity, emphasized at this latest signing ceremony that “for the signatories, this ceremony is a recognition, but this is where the work of managing diversity and promoting non-discrimination in their immediate surroundings begins.”
The Diversity Charter in Spain falls within the framework of the anti-discrimination directives adopted by the European Union in 2000 and has the support of the Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities of the European Commission and the Ministry of Equality.
