Yesterday, the 4th European Ministerial Conference on Integration began in Zaragoza, bringing together political representatives from the 27 member states of the European Union. During yesterday’s meeting, all the countries present agreed to ask the European Commission to launch a pilot program with a series of indicators to measure the level of integration of immigrants within the EU.
In addition, the 27 countries emphasized the urgency of activating the integration agenda, with a five-year target for implementing the measures and agreements reached במסגרת this conference being held in Zaragoza.
Although these integration indicators have not yet been determined, they are expected to cover the employability of immigrants and their level of schooling, their knowledge of the local language, and their level of participation in public and civic life.
In that case, the declaration will reflect the signatory states’ commitment to diversity and their intention to establish common integration pathways throughout the European Union in order to offer immigrants better employment opportunities and involve companies in preventing discrimination against them.
