10 new organizations commit to the Diversity Charter, thereby demonstrating their responsibility toward the principles of inclusion and non-discrimination in the workplace.
According to a study by the European Commission, 95% of European signatory companies state that signing the Charter in their respective countries has had an impact on the development and implementation of their diversity management policies and activities.
Barcelona, December 10, 2014.- Fundación Diversidad, with the support of the Department of Business and Employment of the Government of Catalonia and Barcelona Activa, organized the eleventh Diversity Charter Signing Ceremony in Barcelona, attended by 10 leading organizations from Spain’s business and social sectors.
Alongside the president of Fundación Diversidad, Mr. Javier Benavente Barrón, the event was chaired by Mr. Josep Maria Marques i Ferrer, Executive Director of Promotion at Barcelona Activa, Area of Economy, Business and Employment, Barcelona City Council, and Mr. Xavier López García, Director General of Social and Cooperative Economy and Self-Employment at the Department of Business and Employment of the Government of Catalonia.
In his speech, Mr. Javier Benavente highlighted that “a European Commission study shows that 25% of organizations state that diversity has a very positive impact on overall business development, innovation, and local and global competitiveness.” He also thanked the signatories for joining the nearly 700 companies already committed to the Diversity Charter.
Signing the Charter The Diversity Charter is a commitment charter promoted by the European Commission and voluntarily signed by companies, organizations, and public and private institutions. It represents a commitment to the fundamental principles of equality and respect for every person’s right to inclusion, regardless of their characteristics.

By signing, they publicly demonstrate their firm commitment to diversity, aware of its importance within their organizations.
The Global Diversity Management Study was presented in Barcelona during the signing ceremony, by Vivian Acosta, Managing Partner and Consulting Director at Talengo, and Raquel Santamaría, General Director of Fundación Diversidad. The study was conducted by Fundación Diversidad and Talengo, with the participation of representatives from Citigroup, Eurofred Group, and Pepsico.
Next, Mr. Enrique Arce of Compensa Capital Humano introduced us to “Senior Talent Management,” making it clear that diversity management must begin with each individual. The event was closed by Ms. Rosa María Dumentjó, Coordinator of the Advisory Board of Fundación Diversidad.
An innovative, social, and committed initiative
The principles championed by Fundación Diversidad are also aligned with the Social Responsibility and Equality goals promoted by the Government’s Strategic Plan 2014–2016 and the 2014–20 SPANISH CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY STRATEGY, approved by the State Council for Corporate Social Responsibility (CERSE).
In this regard, to make a real, tangible, and concrete contribution to companies, Fundación Diversidad is promoting the 360º Alares Plan together with Fundación Alares. This program is intended to be implemented by small, medium-sized, and large companies, not only to respond to the Government’s objectives, but especially because it addresses the most pressing needs of companies’ employees and their families, both in terms of reconciling personal, family, and professional life and in terms of Diversity, Disability, Equality, and Gender-Based Violence.
This is an innovative, social, and committed initiative through which companies, by implementing it, will obtain the Alares Certificate for “Socially Responsible Company toward Its Workforce and Society.”
