24-hour telephone support to address any needs of people with disabilities

World Youth Day already has its 24-hour telephone service up and running to resolve any questions, needs, or emergencies that the more than 5,000 accredited pilgrims with disabilities may have. Thanks to this service, the pilgrims are enjoying one of the best events because they know they are being supported by Alares’ team of professionals.
Since Tuesday, August 16, Alares’ emergency telephone service has been available to anyone who needs to make an inquiry or request help with any emergency. Pilgrims with disabilities can call 91 177 50 08 24 hours a day to explain their situation and, as quickly as possible, receive the easiest solution for them. In addition, they can be assisted in up to four languages: English, French, Italian, and Spanish. People with hearing disabilities can also send an SMS to 687 871 772 and, within a few minutes, receive the assistance they need via another SMS.
Alares’ pilgrim support service aims to resolve any need or emergency that arises during World Youth Day 2011. The service is provided in English, Italian, French, and Spanish. Without a doubt, services like this are essential to making World Youth Day a complete success. Judith Mesa, Head of Alares’ Pilgrim Support Service, stated: “We are handling numerous calls, and the issues raised in each one are very different. Our team of professionals is operational 24 hours a day, and so far we have handled calls in all the official languages. Without a doubt, it has been a human and professional experience that is demonstrating our problem-solving capacity.”
