People with disabilities have an irreplaceable positive impact on society
• The 3rd Edition of the National Awards for Excellence in Occupational Risk Prevention for People with Disabilities highlights that the employment inclusion of people with disabilities must go hand in hand with Occupational Risk Prevention.
• Fundación Alares and Sociedad de Prevención de Ibermutuamur have once again recognized the most innovative initiatives in occupational risk prevention for people with disabilities.
For the third consecutive year, CaixaForum, Madrid, hosted
the Gala for the Presentation of the 3rd Edition of the National Awards for Excellence in Occupational Risk Prevention for People with Disabilities, awards held under the
honorary presidency of H.M. Queen Sofía. These awards have become a benchmark in the field of occupational risk prevention for people with disabilities.
This awards ceremony highlights the importance of giving people with disabilities the equal access they need and deserve, since they enrich our society enormously and could contribute even more if we removed the obstacles that sometimes prevent their participation.
The Gala began with a
speech by Irene Villa, lecturer, opinion journalist, writer on values, and author, who stressed that “adapting jobs for people with disabilities and innovation are the challenges facing companies.” She also encouraged people to break down the barriers surrounding disability, emphasizing “that the real barriers are those in each person’s mind.”
Mar Aguilera, in her capacity as Secretary of Fundación Alares, was responsible for reading the jury’s decision, highlighting the professionalism and quality of the 39 applications submitted for this edition.
For
Fundación Alares, these awards recognize good practices that help improve the quality of employment by facilitating labor inclusion and continuity in the workplace. Technical collaboration and sponsorship from
Sociedad de Prevención de Ibermutuamur are vital to this effort, as it would not be possible without them. The Society advises, manages, and develops the preventive activities agreed upon with its clients and offers customized prevention solutions for each company.
The Society is accredited for the four preventive specialties throughout the national territory: Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Applied Ergonomics and Psychosociology, and Occupational Medicine, providing any service required within these fields.
It is the first Prevention Society to support the well-being of people with disabilities through awards. Through this participation, D. Eusebio Gómez made it clear once again in his speech how important the inclusion of people with disabilities in the labor market and their proper adaptation to the workplace are to the Society.
The Deputy Director General for Coordination in Labor Relations, Occupational Risk Prevention, and Equality Measures at the Ministry of Employment and Social Security,

D. Javier Benavente Barrón,
President of Fundación Alares, and
D. Eusebio Gómez Fernández were responsible for presenting the awards to the winners in the different categories.
D. Eusebio Gómez announced the winner in the
Large Company category, while
D. Rafael Martínez Mesas announced the winners in the Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Professional, and Institutions categories.
The CaixaForum venue in Madrid was chosen to bring together the more than 500 guests who attended the Gala, hosted by
Ana García Lozano, journalist and television presenter.
Dña. Nuria Chinchilla, Trustee of Fundación Alares, was responsible for closing the 3rd Edition of these Awards.

This year, the committee of experts consisted of Dña. María del Mar Alarcón Castellanos, Director General of Labor and Manager of the Regional Institute of Occupational Safety and Health of the Community of Madrid; D. Félix Alarcón, HR Global Processes Director at Atento; D. Luis Javier Alonso, Manager of CERMI; D. Javier Benavente Barrón, President of Fundación Alares; D. Mario Cabezos Cañavate, Prevention and Environment Manager at Mutua Madrileña; D. Sixto Cantabrana, Deputy Manager of Sociedad de Prevención de Ibermutuamur; D. Manuel Cuadrado, Communications Director at Wolters Kluwer; D. Moisés Escobar Escribano, Ombudsman for People with Disabilities in Alcorcón; D. Eusebio Gómez, Manager of Sociedad de Prevención de Ibermutuamur; D. José Manuel Morán, Councilor of the Economic and Social Council of Spain; and Dña. Mar Aguilera, General Director of Fundación Alares. They assessed all the applications submitted in the field of Occupational Risk Prevention and reached the final decision, which was announced during the Gala for the Presentation of the National Alares Awards held yesterday.
