CERMI calls on the Government to improve workplace accessibility in the current labor reform.

Improving employment accessibility for people with disabilities is what CERMI is calling for from the Government in response to the current labor reform. Its aim is to prevent the system of incentives available to companies hiring people from this group from being reduced, as already happened in the 2006 reform. CERMI is seeking to ensure that these incentives are not reduced and that they are prioritized in the restructuring of the incentive system, since limiting them would affect companies’ hiring of people with disabilities. Among other proposals, CERMI is asking the Government to enforce sanctions against companies with more than 50 employees that fail to meet the requirement to reserve 2% of their workforce for people with disabilities, and to step up inspection plans. In addition, CERMI considers it necessary to incentivize the hiring of young people with disabilities, who face significant barriers when trying to enter the labor market.
