The Minister of Employment and Social Security, Fátima Báñez, announced on Wednesday that the Council of Ministers will soon approve a royal decree regulating a new type of special agreement with the Social Security system, allowing people with disabilities who have difficulty re-entering the workforce to sign up for coverage of retirement, death, and survivor benefits.
In response to a parliamentary question from CiU member of parliament Concepció Tarruella, who asked when the decree would be approved, Báñez reaffirmed her commitment to those most in need, including people with disabilities who face particular difficulties in their daily lives entering and remaining in the labor market.
She therefore stated that the Government would soon submit the special agreement with the Social Security system to the Council of Ministers so that people with disabilities would have all their retirement, death, and survivor needs covered.
“All we are doing is completing the regulatory procedures required for this royal decree, because we want it to have every guarantee—not only legal, but also budgetary—so that it will be an agreement that contributes to the sustainability of our pension system,” the minister explained.
For her part, the CiU member of parliament thanked the Government for its commitment and asked that this regulatory measure be approved as soon as possible, since it is particularly sought and eagerly awaited by all people with disabilities and their families.
