The new organizational model in companies positions talent management as a source of sustainability and competitiveness, as well as being key to the future.

Roberto Luna, an expert in talent management, leads a 100% practical and participatory session at the II Diversity Management Toolkit Forum

Thanks to the sponsorship of Iberdrola, Ferrovial, Orange, and Indra, the Foundation for Diversity takes another step forward in its efforts to promote the principles of the Diversity Charter in Spain

The Foundation for Diversity, together with Iberdrola, Ferrovial, Orange, and Indra, welcomed Roberto Luna, a professor at the University of Valencia and an expert in talent management, to lead the second session in the Diversity Management Toolkit. series. Under the title “Talent and Diversity,” Luna presented his theory that an organization seeking a future-oriented outlook and competitiveness must pay close attention to managing its employees’ talent, a value that is most often linked to diversity. Luna states that 83% of companies in the EU say that Diversity and Work-Life Balance policies have a positive impact on business because they can foster cultural change, improve the workforce mix, increase business efficiency, and create a competitive advantage in the market.

As in the first edition, the Foundation for Diversity chose the World Café group dynamic to conduct the session. It is a highly effective format capable of motivating participants’ talent and encouraging them to contribute their own ideas and professional experiences. In addition, the aim is to hold discussion tables on real-life cases where participants can see firsthand solutions to their personal concerns. In this way, participants attend a 100% practical session where they can raise their concerns, present their ideas, and, above all, acquire new tools for managing diversity. In this regard, Roberto Luna told us that “organizations based on attracting and retaining talent are the ones that measure productivity most closely.”

On this occasion, Orange hosted us at its headquarters, where more than 60 participants were able to exchange opinions while receiving guidance from the expert. Luna has been a professor at the University of Valencia for more than 17 years, where he directs a master’s program in Talent Management, and he also heads AECOP Levante Coaching Empresa. During his presentation, he noted that talent always seeks out contexts with talent; therefore, if companies want to have this asset in their organizations, they must nurture it and maximize its potential. According to Luna, organizations today are paralyzing diversity management and, consequently, talent management because they are afraid of change. This is a mistake, because diversity is directly linked to innovation and the ability to anticipate.

Talent is the key

It is clear that the current economic situation will lead to a far-reaching social revolution. Companies must take part in it and recognize that multiculturalism, diversity, and globalization are already part of our lives. Therefore, we must work to ensure that talent is the central focus of organizations, regardless of differences between people, because this is where the value of our employees lies. For Professor Luna, attracting and retaining talent depends directly on the proper management of diversity, and the success of organizations depends on it.

For more than three hours, attendees at the event saw through highly practical examples how diversity is an issue that is continuously present in our lives and that we must therefore take very seriously. Organizations that do not know how to manage the heterogeneity of their teams lose competitiveness and, consequently, tangible and intangible benefits.
