The Alares Work-Life Balance Program has been implemented for all employees of the PSA Peugeot Citroën Group nationwide.

Alares and PSA Peugeot Citroën sign an agreement for the company’s workforce

On March 7, Alares, a company specializing in Family Assistance, and PSA Peugeot Citroën signed a framework agreement so that the Group’s nearly 15,000 employees nationwide can access the Alares Family Assistance Program to help reconcile their professional, family, and personal lives. The Program includes assistance for employees, their parents, spouses or partners, and children, wherever they may be located within Spain. This means that the Alares® Program promoted by PSA Peugeot Citroën for its employees entitles approximately 75,000 people to receive these assistance services in their own homes. The Alares® Program will become available to all PSA Peugeot Citroën employees and their families starting May 12. The Alares® Services—which will be provided anywhere in Spain—are designed to cover a wide range of day-to-day needs arising from illness, accidents, or postoperative recovery, among other circumstances, that disrupt people’s normal lives. PSA Peugeot Citroën brings together two strong brands with distinct personalities, each with its own identity, vehicle range, and commercial policy. In 2007, Peugeot vehicle sales totaled 1,786,000 units, an increase of 3.7%; during the same period, sales of vehicles and spare parts rose to 1,967,000, equivalent to an increase of 0.4%. Citroën, for its part, recorded consolidated worldwide sales of 1,461,000 units (vehicles and spare parts), representing an increase of 3.9%. The PSA Peugeot Citroën Group has been pursuing an innovative and proactive equal-opportunities policy for women and men. This policy has been reflected in the various agreements signed with trade-union federations (the gender-equality agreement, the agreement supporting pregnant or breastfeeding employees, and the agreement on measures to implement the Organic Law on the protection of victims of gender-based violence, among others), as well as in actions implementing those agreements (the preparation and distribution of a procedure for dealing with violations of human rights and harassment; training courses to promote understanding of gender equality throughout the management structure, and so on). It is within this framework that the initiative launched by the PSA Peugeot Citroën Group, in collaboration with Alares®, takes on its full meaning, helping its female and male employees reconcile their professional, personal, and family lives.

The Alares Program for Reconciling Professional, Family, and Personal Life has received the “2004 IMSERSO Infanta Cristina Awards” prize for Innovation and Best Program for Reconciling Professional, Family, and Personal Life from the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs

The Alares® Program—which began being implemented in companies in 1999—follows procedures audited by AENOR and supported by UNE-EN ISO 9001/2000 quality certification. Alares® is the only company in Spain that guarantees the direct provision of its assistance and social-healthcare services anywhere in the country, without subcontracting or franchises, ensuring that employees’ family members receive the highest standards of assistance and reliability wherever they are. Implementing the Alares® Reconciliation Program benefits employees because, by having free access to these services, they can enjoy personal time and carry out their professional activities with peace of mind, knowing that their family members are being well cared for when age, illness, postoperative recovery, disability, or any other situation involving risks requires assistance while they are working or enjoying time off. It also benefits the Company by directly increasing employee motivation, reducing absenteeism, and contributing to the organization’s productivity and competitiveness. The Program includes the provision of the following services anywhere in Spain where needed: • Personal In-Home Assistance: Daytime or nighttime assistance and monitoring, at home or in hospital, domestic help, getting up, going to bed, assistance with meals, etc. • Specialized In-Home Treatments: Physiotherapists, psychologists, nurses, private tutors for children in the event of illness, etc. • Unlimited and Anonymous Telephone Consultations with Alares® Specialists: In the medical, legal, psychological, social, and dietary-nutritional fields. • Selection of Social-Healthcare Professionals, Domestic-Service Staff, or Childcare Providers, to be hired directly by the employee or their family members • International Second Medical Opinion in the Event of Serious Illness or Injury, both regarding diagnosis and treatment • Personal, Preventive, and Assistance Telecare, Fixed at Home or Mobile, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Round-the-clock monitoring and support, 365 days a year, and emergency management for older people living alone, people at risk or with an illness, or children who spend time home alone—or with a caregiver—because their schedules do not coincide with those of their parents. In addition, Mobile Telecare enables full communication both inside and outside the home and geographic location when necessary. By providing services to PSA Peugeot Citroën, Alares® continues its strategy of pursuing one of its primary objectives: helping individuals, companies, and institutions participate in the collective process of building a social reality with a better quality of life for citizens, thereby promoting improvements in organizational productivity and competitiveness.
