Javier Benavente Barrón, President of Alares, has received the award in the category of “Man who supports women the most” from Mujeres para el Diálogo y la Educación (MDE). Following the awards ceremony, the 8th International Charity Dinner will be held, featuring a raffle to raise funds for the various projects developed by Mujeres para el Diálogo y la Educación to support women who, due to their vulnerable situation, cannot access them under normal circumstances.
In the remaining categories, Ms. Mª Teresa Fernández de la Vega, President of the Mujeres por África Foundation and former Deputy Prime Minister, received the award in the category of “Women Who Change the World”; YO DONA magazine received the award in the category of “The Most Supportive Media Outlet for Women”; and MAHOU-SAN MIGUEL GROUP received the award in the category of “The Company in the Feminine Plural.” In the category of “The Institution Most Committed to Women,” the award went to the ONCE FOUNDATION’S EQUALITY OBSERVATORY.
The jury for the 2014 MDE SOLIDARITY AWARDS met last July 9 and was composed of Giovanna G. de Calderón, journalist and President of MDE; Domitila Barbolla, lawyer and Secretary General of MDE; Carmen Quintanilla, member of parliament for the PP Group and Chair of the Equality Commission of Congress; Rosa Aguilar, member of parliament for the PSOE Group and former Minister of Agriculture; Rosa Villacastín, journalist and writer; Natalia Escalada, journalist; Ana Lamas, businesswoman and President of WomenCEO; David Aragón González, businessman; José María Pardeiro, lawyer specializing in human rights; and Beatriz Gil, lawyer and MDE member.
