The award recognizes the efforts made to improve quality of life and business competitiveness
Madrid, December 1, 2008—The
Alares Foundation, which promotes initiatives to improve people’s quality of life and business competitiveness, received an award from the National Commission at its most recent Congress, held in Tarragona on November 19.
All the initiatives undertaken by the Alares® Foundation aim to promote Equal Opportunities and Non-Discrimination, Work, Family and Personal Life Reconciliation, Comprehensive Dependency Management, the Integration of Immigration, Diversity as a source of social and business wealth, and the positive impact of all these areas on Business and Social Competitiveness.
The National Commission created the awards to recognize companies for their work and for implementing initiatives and practical experiences aimed at reconciling work, family and personal life. We must not forget that these guidelines must also take workplace productivity and equality between people into account and, above all, place greater value on time.
Along with the
Alares Foundation, the newspaper La Vanguardia and Iberdrola also received the award.
About the Alares Foundation
Registered in the Registry of Assistance Foundations of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, the
Alares® Foundation was established to channel and continue a range of activities previously carried out by the
Alares® Group. These activities reflect its concern with balancing, in a spirit of solidarity and through institutional means, citizens’ demands for social protection and well-being.
The
Alares® Foundation aims to research, contribute to, and develop proposals and solutions for the new needs of the 21st century. The promotion and integration into the workforce of people with disabilities, equal opportunities and the eradication of all forms of discrimination, care for dependent people, work-life balance, the integration of migratory flows and multiculturalism, and sustainability—particularly regarding social cohesion and economic competitiveness—are among the most pressing challenges facing collective life.
To this end, the Foundation will conduct studies and research projects and organize debates, conferences, seminars, awards, and training activities that help meet new citizens’ demands and create and develop new opportunities and sources of employment, thereby responding to new social and business needs. The Foundation will also promote the awarding of scholarships and financial assistance for activities that contribute to its stated objective.
Its purpose, therefore, is to promote and support initiatives aimed at generally improving people’s living conditions and fostering economic competitiveness and corporate and institutional responsibility.
