Happiness in the workplace

The idea that helping to improve the work environment affects employee happiness and their loyalty to the company is a fact. But is happiness really a common business practice?

The Spanish business sector is made up mostly of small and medium-sized enterprises that have yet to recognize the advantages and benefits of promoting measures to improve employees’ quality of life. However, it is undeniable that some companies are beginning to take an interest in their employees’ well-being. These are the companies that recognize the importance of people’s satisfaction at work, since employee motivation affects each person’s productivity level. Time is the resource workers desire most, and undoubtedly the one that brings them happiness. A company that helps its employees reconcile their professional, family, and personal lives provides a boost of motivation that helps it retain the most talented professionals. The great business paradox lies in how companies know exactly how to satisfy their customers’ needs, yet do not know which strategies and practices are best to adopt with their employees. Although creating a happy workforce is undeniably a complicated task, it is necessary to make an effort to achieve it—something that is only possible by adopting measures to that end.
