The Government Delegation showed great interest in the employment integration programs launched by the Alares Foundation
Alares Foundation welcomed the Beijing Federation of Persons with Disabilities yesterday at its Madrid headquarters. Its Vice President, Mr. Ma Dajun, was accompanied by a team of professionals who came to learn about the Alares Foundation® and its activities related to disability. The Delegation was also interested in learning about the current situation of the Spanish system regarding assistance for dependent people and their social integration processes.
During the meeting, the Delegation showed great interest in the initiatives carried out to integrate people with disabilities into the labor market, as well as the advice provided to companies to ensure proper compliance with the LISMI (Social Integration of Persons with Disabilities Act).
In this regard, teleworking attracted particular interest as an option for the employment integration of this group, as did the research published by the Foundation to raise public awareness of this issue.
Federation of Persons with Disabilities in China
The purposes of the Federation of Persons with Disabilities in China include representing the interests of people with disabilities and protecting their rights. In addition, the Federation is responsible for providing rehabilitation, training, employment integration, and other services that are appropriate and designed to meet each person’s needs. The Federation’s staff work closely with the city’s Volunteer Association, carrying out all kinds of initiatives that benefit this group.
The China Federation of Persons with Disabilities, a state organization, was founded in 1988 and serves 83 million people with disabilities. It has federations in every province or city, including Beijing, whose Federation of Persons with Disabilities serves more than one million people.
This first contact between the two institutions has resulted in a valuable exchange of experiences and marks the beginning of a relationship intended to be fruitful in the medium and long term. One of the first agreements reached was their interest in participating in and contributing their experience to the II International Congress that the Alares Foundation® will hold in Madrid in March 2010. Likewise, the Alares Foundation® was invited to Beijing to gain first-hand knowledge of the work they carry out in the area of labor-market integration for people with disabilities.
