More than 90 percent of Spanish companies acknowledge that creating sustainable companies will be essential to guarantee their future success and cope with the current economic crisis. This is the main conclusion of a study conducted by the United Nations Global Compact involving 766 companies from around the world.
In addition, the presidents and senior executives of the companies surveyed agree that within ten years, social responsibility will be fully integrated into organizations.
According to this analysis, the current economic situation has not led companies to cut back on CSR; quite the opposite. Therefore, 80 percent of respondents say that the economic recession has provided an incentive to pursue sustainability.
However, not all the findings of this study are positive: although 88 percent of executives acknowledge the need to integrate sustainability into the supply chain as well, only 54 percent believe they have achieved this goal in their company.
