The 10 guidelines for reconciliation

On the occasion of International Women's Day, celebrated yesterday, the National Commission for the Rationalization of Spanish Working Hours and ARHOE published ten guidelines that working women should bear in mind to achieve work-life balance.

The aim of this document is to show women that they should not give up their private lives in favor of their professional lives, or vice versa, but rather that achieving this balance should be a non-negotiable goal, since, as experts point out, “work-life balance does not mean working less, but doing so more efficiently and productively.” Furthermore, this report emphasizes that women should not have to justify themselves when they request time to achieve work-life balance, because companies are not doing them a favor by granting it. In this regard, the guidelines insist that working hours must be fulfilled and that special leave and reduced working hours must comply with the established regulations.
