Companies may apply to be recognized for their social work.

Companies may voluntarily apply to be recognized as socially responsible companies, as set out in the draft Sustainable Economy Act and explained by Juan José Barrera, Director General of the Social Economy, Self-Employment and CSR at the Ministry of Labour and Immigration. In this way, all entities that reach a minimum level of the indicators established for CSR may request this recognition.

These indicators will be established by the State Council for Corporate Social Responsibility and will be based mainly on transparency, good governance, social commitment to local communities and the environment, respect for human rights, labour relations, effective equality and equal opportunities. This will undoubtedly help promote CSR. In addition, the draft itself reflects the Government’s intention to encourage companies to self-assess in this area using the aforementioned indicators.
