Repsol, Entremares, and Aena, among those recognized as the best organizations for disability inclusion

Queen Sofía presided over the first edition of the “Telefónica Ability Awards,” honoring Repsol, Entremares, and Aena as the companies and organizations that best integrate disability into their business models. Telefónica Chairman César Alierta, Minister of Industry, Tourism and Trade Miguel Sebastián, and President of the Community of Madrid Esperanza Aguirre attended the awards ceremony. Queen Sofía presented the winners with a sculpture by Irish artist Shane Holland. Repsol won the overall category for Best Large Private Company, Hotel Entremares won Best SME, and Aena won Best Public Institution. In addition, six different initiatives received awards in the Main Categories. In the categories of Senior Management Commitment and Employee Leadership and Professional Development and Training, the Palencia-based food company Grupo Siro was recognized; it had also received the Alares National Award the previous year. The urgent transport company MRW won in the Recruitment and Selection category. Sanitas received the award for Accessibility. In the Customer Orientation category, which recognizes the organization that stands out for developing products and/or services aimed at people with disabilities, the award went to Ávila City Council. In the Professional Development and Training category, which recognizes the organization that ensures every employee has the same opportunities for training and promotion, Grupo Siro won again. Finally, Capgemini received the award in the Prevention and Retention category, which recognizes the organization that stands out for establishing the necessary measures to prevent acquired disabilities and retain employees who develop a permanent disability. The Ability Awards originated in Ireland four years ago and have made a significant impact both in the business world and in society.
